The Crafters´ Hut
Mousehole, Cornwall, UK
Once serving as a carpenter's workshop, the oscillating tides his creative inspiration, this architect-designed eco home was designed to incite artistic spirit in all those who stay. The cabin's orientation has been skillfully devised to make the most of its coastal location; whether admiring Mousehole harbour from the Swedish wood-fired tub or sat beneath the pergola, glass of red in hand, watching the rain roll in over the sea.
Introduction
Those looking for the antithesis of Mousehole's weather-beaten fishermen's cottages and boutique guesthouses can end their search right here. Perched high above the village's main thoroughfare and only accessed on foot, this former carpenter’s home combines organic materials with panoramic sea views to encapsulate the best of the peninsula's wild west. Forage for mussels in the bay, hunt for monkfish in Newlyn's fish markets and sample the fruits of Cornwall's vineyards on your next luxury self-catering escape, in a place where craftsmanship and simple coastal living reign supreme.
Inside
The unique architectural structure artfully combines vaulted ceilings, Douglas Fir and oak beams which frame the sea views in almost every direction. Inside, the open-plan living area - with its woodburner and triple aspect windows - was designed with toasty winters in mind. Further on, two bedrooms (one king and one single) offer serene sanctuaries fashioned from natural linens, oversized paper lanterns and vintage furnishings sourced from across the globe. Down some stone steps you'll find a second living room in the summerhouse - the perfect spot for penning postcards home.
Outside
From the gardens surrounding the cabin it's only 150 meters as the crow flies to Mousehole harbour. Follow the footpath to reach the tangle of stone cottages and pint-sized fish restaurants that make this Cornish village so adored. With their sparkling seaside settings and artistic connections, Newlyn and St Ives are a must-visit for art lovers, while those who want to sunbathe on golden beaches should head to Gwithian or Sennen. When you've packed up the parasol, head back to the wood-fired tub where you can watch the last of the village lights twinkle into their inky ocean reflection.

From the owner
“We fell head over heels in love with Mousehole 18 years ago when we first visited while expecting our first child. We walked the beautiful coastline, ate crab sandwiches, explored the boutique shops and galleries and couldn´t have wanted for more.”
Since then, we have never looked back nor wavered from our dream to one day have a home in this beautiful Cornish harbour town. Over the years the authenticity of Mousehole has remained, and we are delighted to have realised our dream finally of having a home here.
The house was built around 20 years ago; the plot was chosen for its incredible views and gorgeous greenery that surrounds it. Handily positioned less than 150 metres away from the harbour yet completely removed from the hustle and bustle of the village, it allows for peaceful time away from it all to sit and enjoy the panoramic vistas. The previous owners were a young local family and worked tirelessly to continue the beautiful wood craftsmanship featured inside and out of the property; we have worked hard to maintain that charm and the magic of the house and gardens.
We hope you love this space as much as we do, and we’re excited to share our dream home with you whilst you stay in our magical place.

We were fortunate to have stayed at The Crafters Hut, all I can say is wow what a beautiful place to stay. It was truly magical and so peaceful with the most amazing views of Mousehole. The décor was well thought out and with a designer´s eye for detail. We have had a few stays with Unique Homestays and will do them again in the future. If you do decide to visit The Crafters Hut you are in for a real treat.
What an amazing place to stay! Every possible need is catered for. We love Mousehole and the views from here are glorious rain or shine. Fabulous meal at Mousehole Deli, Number 2, delicious coffee and cake, everyone was so friendly, especially at Number 2. Highly recommend it, we have to come back to enjoy this space again.
This little place is a real gem! The light and the views are stunning and The Crafters hut has everything needed for a winter break. Mousehole is one of our favourite places on Earth, with loads of happy family memories. On this visit, we explored Newlyn, the art galleries, two delicious lunches and a cosy movie afternoon. So many treats, thank you!
I am staying at The Crafter´s Hut and oh my goodness I just wanted to say how much I love your property! It´s our anniversary tomorrow, what a place to celebrate this year truly magical. Thank you thank you! Currently sitting outside enjoying some herbal tea in your gorgeous teapot, listening to the boats coming in. Can’t wait to try the hot tub later!
We needed a break from our busy lives and we found exactly what we were looking for in Mousehole. What a fantastic little find. We absolutely love the Hut. It´s amazing and has everything we needed. The decor is perfect and we honestly don´t want to leave! We will definitely be coming back, hopefully at Christmas to see the lights! Enjoy your stay here, you will love it. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.
What an amazing holiday home, it truly is unique! I stayed with a friend but will be bringing my husband back next year as we are off to the Scilly Isles in September 2023. This place certainly has everything you need.
Here for our 40th Wedding anniversary, our first time staying in Mousehole, having been somewhat put off the place after a day trip here on a very wet day many years ago. We now know why people love the place, stunning views, and lovely meals out (2 Fore Street, The Deli & Old Coastguard are very good). Friendly people, then back to the beautiful oasis of the Hut. With every modern convenience but nestling in its garden as if it´s been there forever. We will be back!
The hut is so close to Mousehole yet it is a very quiet sanctuary/retreat. The property is well equipped and there is plenty to do - walking and nearby trips. Highly recommend Tolcarne Inn, Newlyn. Thank you for being dog friendly.
