Luxury self-catering accommodation in Polperro
An authentic little fishing village tucked away on the south east coast of Cornwall, Polperro has a strong maritime heritage, oozes Cornish coastal charm and sits just down the coast from the busier harbour town of Fowey.
Dramatic cliffs, boats bobbing in the water and cottages grouped around the little quay; this is Polperro, a quaint village with a working harbour and a big heart, perfectly placed between gorgeous Whitsand Bay and Fowey. Narrow lanes lead inland from the harbour to galleries, a museum, bakery, village shop and smattering of welcoming pubs peppering the streets. There's an annual summer festival with music, dance, theatre and parades held here too. Leading up and out of town is the South West Coast Path, frequented by hikers strolling the iconic gorse-lined route, admiring the stunning view.
Polperro itself has a small sandy beach, which is perfect for sun-worshipping and toe-dipping, an intriguing cave rumoured to have been handy for smugglers, and fun rock pools for little ones to explore. Older children who carefully navigate the descent at Chapel Cliff are rewarded with a unique tidal pool to splash about in; or simply enjoy the sight of the clear, blue waters from above. For a day trip, head to Polperro harbour and hop on a boat chugging towards Fowey, one of Cornwall's prime maritime towns, for a day of strolling, exploring, people-watching and idyllic memory making.
