Luxury self-catering accommodation in St Newlyn East
Just inland from the long sandy strip of the north Cornwall coast stretching from Newquay to Holywell Bay, this sleepy Cornish village makes a secluded base for visiting explorers.
Just a few miles inland from some of north Cornwall's most popular sandy beaches, surfers and sea-loving families flock to this area all year round. If you prefer your cottage escape a little further from the crowds, the tucked-away location of St Newlyn East is a tranquil alternative to the coast; full of classic village charm, with a pretty Norman church, winding lanes and country pub at its heart. There's plenty to do in the scenic surrounds too. Families can pack in some rail history by hopping on a locomotive at the miniature steam railway in Lappa Valley, with several routes to try and gorgeous greenery gliding past, whilst smaller children will love a trip to Dairyland Farm World, where the big indoor play area is perfect for rainy days. Serious ramblers take to the region's South West Coast Path come rain or shine, hoping to catch a glimpse of a rare seabird or barking seal along the way. Join at West Pentire and pass the magnificent display of poppies and corn marigolds, before a wild swim in the secluded coves surrounding Porth Joke and Holywell Bay. Come winter, the local pubs make a welcome refuge. Think open fires, fiddler bands and plenty of fine ales.
