Luxury self-catering accommodation in Woodbridge
Rope and sails, seagulls and nets: this thriving market town located right on the river is just the place for boating enthusiasts, not far from the sea and surrounded by miles of greenery for walkers and wildlife lovers.
Where the River Deben narrows, just inland from Felixstowe, the busy town of Woodbridge is in a convenient position with great road links in and out, and its toes almost touching the coast. Historical roots are strongly water-based around here: Sutton Hoo is nearby, site of an unearthed 7th century ship burial; and Woodbridge Tide Mill provides 800 years of history for those keen to learn more about bygone years – book a guided tour and time the visit for one of the days when flour is actually being milled.
Several outdoor markets are another treat for the senses, filling the streets with sound and colour. Line your bags with fresh produce then take a stroll along the river, keeping strong binocs handy for a sight of the resident widgeons and warblers, terns and oyster catchers. The route winds past a yacht harbour, the mill and an old ferry quay, the landing stage just visible at low tide. With several pubs dotted throughout the town, liquid refreshments are always close to hand at the end of any walk.
