Luxury self-catering accommodation in Petworth
Think quirky antique shops, cobbled streets and the sweeping South Downs right on your doorstep: Petworth is the perfect West Sussex base for anyone needing a country break not far from the big city.
The name Petworth might ring bells, inextricably linked to the majestic stately home of the same name. Guests visit to appreciate the sizeable art collection, stunning grounds and parkland that inspired Turner to produce some of his finest work, a lot of which is on display at the house. Down in the tile-clad town, self-catering cottages, antique shops and cobbled roads give Petworth its classic yesteryear feel, belied only by the modern shops lining the streets.
Every summer the Petfringe Festival puts on lively shows and funny acts, and there's plenty to do out of town. Not far in the car is the impressive Goodwood Estate and famous Ascot Racecourse offering a host of events to entertain. Visit Arundel Castle, with a beautifully preserved interior and great collection of paintings. Pop by the rose gardens to enjoy a spot of peace and tranquillity and visit the quirky stumpery; intriguing trees adorned with blooming flowers.
