From the owner
“We first came to know and love Whitsand Bay when our children were young.”
My mother spent many happy summers here with her grandparents. The adults and young children would travel up from Torpoint on a ´Charabanc´ and the older children would walk behind.
Sometimes they would camp for a few days in ´the meadow´ just below the Cliff Top Café. It is believed that the site was first built on during World War II for families from Plymouth to escape to during air raids. Part of the clifftop was owned by the Edgcumbe family and when they decided to sell it, about 50 of the chalet owners got together to raise the money to buy it. It is now owned and managed by the TCCOA (The Tregonhawke Cliff Chalet Owners Association).
When we acquired our plot, the site contained a wooden chalet with a corrugated iron roof. It had been built in the late 60s by the parents of the family that owned it.
We started planning to rebuild the chalet in 2017. The build actually started in February 2019 and finished in November 2019. Our architect and builder were both great to work with and our architect managed the project; she was also our interior designer and stylist too!

This clifftop café is just metres from Orlagh and welcomes ramblers and surfers for breakfast, lunch and tea. Stroll up from the house for a full-on fry-up or mug of steaming coffee: well earned after a morning walk.
To Do

Under an hour by car round the curve of coast, this quaint chocolate-box village has its own tiny working harbour, a good array of pubs and shops and a tidal swim pool. Take fish and chips on the beach, while making up smuggling stories.

This is our first visit and won´t be our last, as what you have created here exceeds all expectations! We have loved every minute of being here, what a special place this is. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We love being here, it is simply a wonderful place you have. The location, design, quality of building work is exceptional and the whole “feel” of Orlagh is just so special. We hope to be back again (and again) as often as we can as it our favourite place to visit.
Spending our honeymoon here has been everything we hoped for. Relaxing, peaceful and cosy. Watching the sea rolling in everyday is magical. The cabin is beautiful and designed to perfection. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back soon. PS. We loved the hamper, thank you so much.
Our fourth visit to Whitsand Bay and our second time at Orlagh, it gets better everytime. Our absolute favourite place to holiday in the UK, we will be back! The setting is incredible but what really makes it special is the attention to detail in Orlagh from the furniture, decor, bathroom, hot tub - everything is spectacular. Thank you for having us back, until next time!
The views are spectacular and will forever be imprinted in our memories. We fully embraced the hot tub, catching some rays while the sea air blew across our faces. The best part was staying in a cottage where the attention to detail is so much appreciated. The decor reflects a place that is much loved and we are so thankful that you shared this with us. Thank you for the very generous welcome basket of local goods, they were delicious. We had a great time here and very much hope to return soon.
When I asked my partner to find us a place to stay, I described a cottage facing the ocean on the edge of the world, surrounded only by nature. The type of place you would escape to and write a novel, et Voila, Orlagh. Your cottage is amazing. What an unbelievable privilege to have stayed here. We have woken up to the sounds and view of the ocean, interrupted only by the calls of the nesting seagulls and jackdaws, an extra special treat.
Our stay here was incredible and encompassed all the elements we could have wished for & more. The layout, the interior design, the soft furnishings, the kitchen equipment; every detail was of a high quality and standard. I have to mention the welcome hamper, which included enough locally produced sumptuous goodies to make a dinner and breakfast. They were the icing on a very beautiful cake... to sum up an amazing stay at Orlagh. Thank you to the owners and Unique Homestays.

We were very impressed with the location, the property and the facilities available. The property was clean, so well-equipped and had everything we needed. The welcome hamper was very appreciated as we arrived late on the first day due to traffic levels.
Fabulous location, and a wonderful property that is beautifully kitted out. Elegant and luxurious and every conceivable thing seems to have been covered. Thank you for a lovely stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at Orlagh and were very pleased we chose it. It has been beautifully designed and furnished. We would definitely consider returning. We were absolutely blown away by the incredible views!
