Senara
Gwithian, Cornwall, UK
Surrounded by a patchwork blanket of fields just a mile from Gwithian’s rolling dunes, Senara is a cool, architectural beach house with an outdoor pool, hot tub and unrivalled views across St Ives Bay. This luxury self-catering home has strength in its simplicity. Clean lines and calming hues contrast with the wild stretch of Cornish coast on which it sits. A sublime retreat that will see families return time after time.
Introduction
Flamingo pink sunsets, pastries on the beach and morning dips in the ocean before even the keenest of surfers have made their way to Gwithian’s blue shores; life at Senara is an idyllic one. The pool is the centrepiece from May to September, while the hot tub, fire pit and sauna give the gardens year-round appeal. Even in winter, when the winds whip the waves into a frenzy and frost glitters the sand, this luxury self-catering home offers warmth, togetherness and the promise of adventure.
Inside
Scandinavian vibes and large basket pendants; the interiors of Senara were built on the fundamentals of chic beach house style. Wall-to-wall white reflects the waves crashing on the horizon, while exposed wood cabinetry mimics the brown sugared sands where the sea meets the land just over the hedges. The first floor is where the most magnificent of views can be found; a laidback space for family living Cornwall-style. Six large bedrooms continue the theme inside, followed by the seventh bedroom suite which resides in the self-contained annexe.
Outside
A true oasis of peace and serenity, spend days in Senara’s acre of garden alternating between pool and pool house, making jugs of iced lemonade and mojitos to cool down the whole clan. Be sure to catch a matinee at the Minack nearby, a unique cliffside theatre that you'll see imitated in Senara’s very own amphitheatre. When the heat of the day fades and supper has been served from the al fresco kitchen, sink into the hot tub or warm through in the sauna before watching the moon rise from behind the sea.

From the owner
“The view from Senara bears witness to the power and strength of the Atlantic Ocean and the view, like magic, changes every day.”
When we first viewed the house, we instantly fell in love with the panoramic sea-views and breathtaking sunsets over St Ives Bay and Godrevy.
The gardens are inspired by the Minack Theatre and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, two beautiful Cornish gardens which we have visited often. The planting in the bank is filled with a mix of Cornish and Mediterranean plants, punctuated by local granite, and the sauna and hot tub are strategically placed to give a beautiful perspective of the garden from a secluded spot.
Inside, there are some competition-winning surfboards on display and the walls showcase local artists including Alasdair Lindsay, Jane Askey, Oliver Teagle and Joe Greenway.
Our ambition was to create the perfect holiday destination for families visiting Cornwall, where we have tried to feature something special for everyone.

We had a wonderful time. The house and facilities were beautiful. I also wanted to say that the housekeeping team was brilliant - we had a couple of things that we needed help with and they were fabulous and so helpful so a huge thank you to them too. We look forward to booking another holiday with you soon.
Senara, put simply, is the dream beach house. With a kitchen that looks like it’s been taken straight from the pages of ELLE Decoration. Although located in one of Cornwall’s loveliest seaside spots, you’d actually be hard-pressed to find reason to leave on a sunny day. Lounge by the outdoor pool, cook up a storm on the Big Green Egg BBQ and sunset-watch from the al fresco deck. Just heaven.
The welcome hamper that we received was especially awesome with lots of local products and produce. The property felt fresh and new and all of the facilities were exceptional.
