Introduction
Sat within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this modern self-catering home is a refreshingly peaceful escape. A zingy, contemporary aesthetic with high ceilings and enormous windows gives a sense of infinite space, all while ensuring comfort and enveloping warmth. In one direction, woodland filled with harmonious birdsong stretches down towards the sea and Lyme Regis, while to the other, hills hiding artisan vineyards and neat smallholdings (including River Cottage HQ) fold onto one another in a patchwork of sunshine yellow and emerald green.
Inside
Lofty ceilings and windows offering glimpses of the world from all angles surprise around every corner in Zephyros and, whether gliding through the warm water of the indoor swimming pool as the sun rises or reclining in the master bedroom’s en suite standalone bath tub as the stars scintillate above, here is a luxury home where the heavens are welcomed in with enthusiasm. The colours throughout reflect those of the drifting Dorset skies; greys, whites and blues are accented with bursts of sunset pinks and oranges, connecting guests to all four of England’s kaleidoscopic seasons.
Outside
Bordered by woodlands and wildflower meadows, the one acre of lawn stretching out from the back of Zephyros was designed with families in mind. An adventure playground (including a trampoline, swings, slide and climbing frame) ensure children are entertained for hours, while parents can relax into a well-earned Martini on the patio. With the Dorset coast within touching distance, days fossil hunting and wave jumping are guaranteed here, so with buckets, spades and a cool bag full of treats collected from Miller’s Farm Shop, spend happy days with toes buried in the sand before returning to watch night descend from the al fresco dining area.

There are another three double bedrooms with super king-size beds on the first floor, two of which feature en suite showers and WCs, and one with en suite bath looking out across the Dorset countryside, shower and separate WC. There are two further bedrooms on the first floor with zip-and-link beds, which can be made up as super king-size beds or twins as required; one has an en suite shower room and the other features an en suite bathroom with shower-over.

Lyme Regis
Sitting pretty right on the Dorset and Devon border, Lyme Regis flaunts a picture-perfect promenade, sweeping beach and regular fossil discoveries making it one of the country´s best-loved coastal destinations.
Getting there
- On the Map Zephyros is located on the Devon and Dorset border, three miles equidistant between Lyme Regis to the south and Axminster to the north.
- By Car Three hours from central London.
- By Train The house is two hours and 45 minutes by train from London Waterloo direct to Axminster, the nearest train station, which is just under four miles away.
- By Air The nearest airport is Exeter, 25 miles away with a journey time of approximately 30 minutes.

“Our favourite place in the house is the lounge with its fine southerly views through the large glass windows. In the morning, the light can catch the sea which reflects like glass and looks nothing short of spectacular.”
We started building Zephyros in early 2019 and it took most of two years to complete. From the outset, we wanted the house to complement its beautiful location and to take in the wonderful coastal vistas from the principal rooms. Our priority has been to make a spacious, restful, healthy living environment utilising the best of modern design.
We hope you enjoy the internal pool-house, which has been designed to provide Caribbean-temperature swimming conditions throughout the year. The extra-large sliding windows can be opened up on warm, sunny days providing easy access to the large patio and wraparound garden.
After staying in a number of holiday homes over the years, we wanted to create a space where large groups can enjoy time spent together but also with space to be alone if required, as well as having all the mod cons available for a comfortable stay no matter the weather (as well as minimising chores as much as possible!).
Our favourite spot for a morning coffee is on the large oak dining table in the family room, where there are views to the south over trees to the sea. If it's a warm morning, slide open the doors to the large patio area outside and let the sound of the dawn chorus wash in as you wake with the day.

This was an absolutely incredible weekend at Zephyros. This was the first time we had considered doing something in the UK with the whole family so I was a bit nervous about taking the plunge - boy was I wrong!
