When it came to Valentine’s weekend this year, we wanted to celebrate by offering guests something that would last far longer than a dozen roses or bottle of fizz. Instead, we teamed up with culinary vacation specialist Stirred Travel, who are the best in the business when it comes to the nation’s first love.
The masterminds behind the brand came together with Jeremy Lee, much-loved chef proprietor of Soho's Quo Vadis, to host a three-night gastronomic extravaganza at the sprawling modern-rustic Somerset retreat we call Bohème.
The weekend melded the laid-back air of a staycation with immersive culinary demonstrations, wine tastings and hands-on cookery classes. Guests enjoyed drawn-out breakfasts that spilled into lunches and then suppers, broken up by the occasional film showing in the cinema room or dip in the spring-fed indoor pool. Arriving as strangers and leaving with black books of new friends and cookery tips, the party of solo travellers and food-loving couples departed with full hearts and even fuller bellies.
