New Property Arrivals - Gwendolyn and The Looking Glass
There is something rather fine about settling into a squishy sofa with a steaming cup of tea as the winter storms rage outside. Finer still if said sofa has sea views and a roaring fire within toe-warming reach. This week we bring you two new properties with such qualities on Cornwall´s north coast, where sweeping views of the ocean, salt-kissed skin and fiery sunsets come as standard. Come rain, shine or wild winds, these two homes are destinations in their own right
It´s the Little Things
The little things in life so often pass us by without even a glimpse of recognition; a slow morning drinking tea in bed, the subtle beauty of bee´s wings bobbing on the summer heat, the lingering smell of bonfires which fill the evening air at this time of year. It´s these finer details which come together to make the bigger picture, bringing such vibrancy and joy to this wonderful life. With this in mind, this month we are celebrating the small and mighty in our midst.
New Property Arrivals - Little Portion and The Flower Press
The onset of winter certainly doesn´t mean the onset of hibernation. Rather than mourning the end of summer, we’re celebrating the comfort of woolly jumpers and large glasses of pinot noir, frosty mornings and roaring fires. It´s time to celebrate the cosier side of life and with this we bring you two new romantic cottages, in Cornwall and the Cotswolds, perfect for returning to after afternoons spent hiking or chilly cold water surfing. So come on in, it´s warm in here...
New Property Arrival - Lloyds Signal Station and Old Favourites Sundance and The Parsonage
There is something exhilarating about journeying to the farthest reaches of land, where the heavens, sea and earth collide in a blaze of magnificent glory, where the enormity of the world under a blanket of stars is almost overwhelming and howling winds are as beautiful and appealing as balmy summer days. Our newest property resides in such a place; a place on the edge, a place that feels invitingly far away.
New Property Arrivals - The Redes and Wool Merchant´s House
Luxury comes in many forms. To some it’s classic elegant interiors and lavish finishes, while to others it´s the freedom to rise from a cloud-like bed, to wander barefoot into the morning, cup of rich coffee in hand and not a whiff of phone signal in range.
Winter by the Sea
This month the Unique Home Stays team have been trekking the South West Coast Path to raise money for the charity SUDEP Action. One evening, after a 12 mile hike I finished the day’s challenge on a little pebble beach. The moon shimmered over the water’s surface and the waves roared as they washed over the rocks; not a soul in sight, this felt like real luxury to me. This month, I decided, we shall celebrate homes by the sea.
Latest Arrival - Evania
If you’re a fan of boutique shopping and swimming under the stars then you’ll want to add our new arrival to the top of your wish list. Evania is just fifteen minutes from Cheltenham, complete with ancient olive trees and a heated outdoor pool.
The Best Places to Work Remotely
Humans were born to move. In early years mankind would roam freely, tracking the stars and migrating with the seasons. Whilst urbanisation may have made it more practical to stay static, living as a nomad is becoming easier than ever. More than just homes for the holidays, the properties we pick to join the portfolio also provide inspiring settings for those wanting to throw off the shackles of an office-based 9 to 5 and discover an alternative place to work for a while. For artists, writers and digital nomads with no fixed abode, back to school season has never been so attractive.
It´s Never Too Early...
Albeit a little controversial, we’re making a bold move this year and have decided to drop the C word right in the middle of your August bank holiday. We considered it’s likely you’ve got all of the family together, so to save arguments on who’s hosting and who’s scrubbing the potato pots on the next bank holiday, opt for a home-away-from-home and let us take away the stress. With just 120 days to go, the countdown is on for your most absurdly magical and utterly unique Christmas yet.
Latest Arrivals - Alchemy Hill & The Cotton Tree
As the evenings begin to draw in and the hedgerows grow heavy with blackberry buds and purple sloes, we’re reminded of how beautifully abundant the end of summer is. With our homes also in their most fruitful season, we are delighted to announce the arrival of two new retreats which both have availability for your end-of-summer escape. One in the rolling hummocks of Herefordshire and the other by the wild Cornish sea, our latest arrivals afford truly rejuvenating breaks in both the coast and country.
Remote Luxury
In the midst of August´s cheery chaos, we´d like to dedicate this month to remoteness. Whilst it´s likely the world’s best secrets will be forever kept and handed down to only the lucky few, we´ve toiled away to unearth those hidden gem homes that could be found. Gather with friends and family, or savour solitude, for a week amongst mountains, coast or countryside with little more than a canine or cinema room for company.
Latest Arrival - Scarlet Hall
In the midst of what feels like an endless summer, we´re delighted to introduce you to our red hot new arrival. Set in the grounds of a sprawling 12 acre estate, Scarlet Hall is the perfect marriage of rural and regal. Within its timber-framed wisteria-clad walls lies a wealth of history spanning farm tales, princes and Italian prisoners of war. The best part? Brand new to the portfolio, it´s currently available all summer long (and just look at that pool)!
Living on The Edge
Everyone dreams of a home by the sea. There´s a tremendous sense of freedom that comes with living on the water´s edge and, in the midst of a long, hot summer, I´m sure you´ll agree that the idea couldn´t be any more appealing. This month we pay tribute to unique homes that connect their inhabitants to the most essential of elements, and reveal some sparkling new additions to the portfolio.
Latest Arrivals - Little Eden, Maberly, Felicity Park & Seren Mor
This week we reveal an inspiring quartet of new property arrivals, just in time to make the most of the sunshine cascading across the British Isles. Whether you choose a hidden loch-side cottage in the Scottish Highlands, a Grade-II listed family home in Devon´s leafy South Hams, a flamboyant Hampshire manor complete with heated pool or a striking beach house perched above the sands in Pembrokeshire, these homes are nothing short of extraordinary.
Live Authentic
Not too long ago, a guest described their stay as being amongst the most ´spellbinding and authentic´ holidays they´d ever had. It´s comments like this that bring us back to our core values. It’s our mission to ensure you experience the true cultural narrative of your destination. Authenticity should be both a goal and measure for the 21st century traveller. So hear our song through the noise of fake news and marketing mayhem, knowing that with us you´ll get what it says on the tin. Unique Home Stays.
New Arrival - Balthazar
You´ll find our new arrival down a sweeping drive flanked by acre upon acre of pheasant-filled parkland, just outside the charming village of Chiddingfold (cited by Country Life as one of England´s most desirable places to live). Sleeping up to 33 guests and with elements devised by film set designers, Balthazar´s modern take on traditional luxury creates the most magnificent mansion imaginable.
Destination Unknown
Flee the city following the royal wedding celebrations and bask in the country’s beauty with a royally British staycation. This summer should be about scoffing strawberry jam scones and chilled rosé in the sunshine at a true home-from-home! Need inspiration? Let our Home Stay Specialists pick your next destination.
Welcome to Pearl´s Place
This week we invite you to step into a wonderland at the end of a long, tree-lined drive in rural Somerset and journey to a world of feminine florals and gold gilt, Bohemian extravagance and tea parties on the lawn. Our latest arrival has heart and soul thrown into every nook and cranny. Flower-filled gardens, canopied beds and deeply romantic furnishings welcome you to fall through the rabbit hole and indulge in all that is wonderful about life.
Perfectly Imperfect
As advocates of the unconventional, we´d like to introduce you to Wasi-Sabi: not a spicy sauce for your sushi, but the new hot thing in home trends. This ancient Japanese philosophy centres on finding the beauty in imperfection; appreciating characteristics such as asymmetry, roughness and natural objects. Whether the charm of a crooked old cottage or the chaos of a wildflower meadow, join us in celebrating these homes´ wondrous peculiarities.
The best unusual holiday houses in Britain in 2018
The Found was originally built to defend Napoleonic forces in the 1800s and, after a stylish renovation, offers luxury self-catering accommodation with a difference. Entering on the first floor, guests are welcomed into a circular snug area laid with shaggy rugs and stacked with logs for stoking up the fire.
Run to the Hills
There´s something about life in the hills that truly makes one´s heart sing. We´ve searched high and low throughout fells, hills and valleys to bring you the most extraordinary homes in the British Isles. This month we reveal our latest arrival as well as Easter escape inspiration and a unique investment opportunity.
Wellness Retreats
The nation´s thriving appetite for clean-living has pressed health experts to take the wishy-washy out of wellness. Optimal wellness comes down to finding harmony across six dimensions. If you´re looking for a good place to start, how about escaping to a luxury log cabin nestled on the borders of Snowdonia National Park?
Latest Arrivals - Amethyst Meadows & Dusky Cottage
Last night the super blue moon illuminated landscapes from coast to coast and showcased just how awe-inspiring the British Isles can be. In the essence of all things magical, this week´s new arrivals couldn’t be more apt. Set near spellbinding Glastonbury, Amethyst Meadows takes its name from the purple flowering wisteria that frames its Georgian façade, whilst Dusky Cottage is just an amble up the lane from Devon´s dreamy Hope Cove.
