Its owner — an art collector and advocate of creative types — envisaged something more offbeat for the 1850s residence: a luxe country house with a rebellious streak, where a private screening room, lawn pool, and kitchen island from the quarries of Carrara call connoisseurs of design-led lifestyle to Haywards Heath in West Sussex.
